"It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default." - J.K. Rowling
Abby delights in working with people, admiring their bravery in navigating difficult obstacles. She is particularly skilled at working with clients who are entering therapy for the first time and need some guidance developing a strong sense of self. Abby helps her clients discover how their own life story has instilled resilience and the ability to relate to others in their own, unique way.
Premarital couples and newlyweds find that Abby provides simple, fun, active, and deeply meaningful ways to learn to connect. She is a big advocate of putting in the hard work now so that couples establish the foundation needed for relationship happiness and success.
Abby also works very well with teens, helping them navigate social pressures, difficult friendships, dating, and family dynamics. Many adolescents struggle with anxiety and depression from time to time and Abby is here to help!
Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Abby helps her clients safely and efficiently reprocess traumatic memories that have reinforced negative beliefs so that they can remember the past without reliving it. Through this highly specialized trauma treatment modality, clients become better equipped to regulate their emotions so that they can build healthier relationships.
In her personal life, Abby enjoys running, taking walks with her husband, weekend waterfall hikes, and kayaking adventures. She is a firm believer in Edward Abbey’s quote, “Wilderness is not a luxury, but a necessity of the human spirit.” Abby and her husband share a passion for creating beautiful settings, and they can often be found shopping for vintage pieces to integrate into their cozy home. Abby grew up in an adventurous family who believed in giving gifts of experience. Whether skydiving, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, flying lessons, or concerts, Abby values life as an adventure, and she passes along this sense of enthusiasm in her work with clients.
